Wave Characteristics
Soft, rolling waves breaking over sand. Marshmallow offers a mellow takeoff zone
and forgiving conditions that make it ideal for learning, improving fundamentals
and enjoying relaxed surf sessions. On bigger swells it can provide longer rides
and fun walls for intermediate surfers.
Hazards
Generally one of the safer breaks in the area thanks to its sandy bottom.
The main hazards are crowds during peak season, beginner traffic in the lineup
and occasional currents when larger swells are running.
Best Conditions
Clean morning winds and small-to-medium south-west swells usually provide the
best conditions. Marshmallow works across a wide range of tides but is often at
its most user-friendly around mid tide.
